Maja Pek-Brünjes

Maja Pek-Brünjes is a Croatian screenwriter, showrunner, and development producer based in Berlin. After over a decade of working in television and film development and production, she completed the international Serial Eyes showrunner programme at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB).

Over the past decade, Maja has been part of the creative team at Antitalent Croatia, contributing to the creation and development of their film and series slates.

Her first original drama series, The Highlands, aired in 2023 and earned a nomination for Best Drama Series at the Sarajevo Film Festival. As development producer, she won the HBO Europe Award for the project Afterparty at Midpoint TV Launch 2020. Her work is defined by a focus on socially relevant themes and character-driven storytelling. She writes in Croatian and English, and develops for the German-speaking market.
